FLEETWOOD MAC:
As we know, EJ is starting his final FAREWELL YELLOW BRICK ROAD tour this fall. Another big band from the same era (bit earlier) than Elton is Fleetwood Mac. They are starting a major tour this autumn (2018) as well BUT without long-time guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Lindsey Buckingham who joined them (along with Stevie Nicks) to begin work on the self-titled 1975 FLEETWOOD MAC album. Fleetwood Mac has just recently gone through turmoil (a career trademark for the band, it seems) where Lindsey was asked to leave. Two veteran performers (Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and Neil Finn from Crowded House) have stepped in to replace him. This is not being billed as their last tour but one never knows.
Consider commenting on:
1. Are you likely to go see the new Fleetwood Mac this year?
2. What is your favourite Fleetwood Mac album?
3. What is your favourite Fleetwood Mac song?
4. Were you ever into the Peter Green, Bob Welch, or other songwriters of the band in the early days?
5. Anything else...

Fleetwood Mac is at number 53 on my all-time artists list, so I guess they're a favorite. Never knew if they've toured in Finland though.

Apparently Fleetwood Mac has played Finland - 5 times! The concerts were all between 1968 and 1970 when they were a hugely successful blues band driven by the writing, playing and performing of Peter Green.
They are overdue to head back to Finland, I'd say!

I have the Rumours album by Fleetwood Mac and a Best of compiliation. I liked most of their songs, Never really cared much for Stevie Nicks vocals, don't know why. I do like Christine McVie and Lindsay Buckingham, I like their songs. I don't think I'd go see them live without Buckingham.

I have seen Fleetwood Mac both with & without Lindsey Buckingham. When I saw them with Rick Vito & Billy Burnette (1987 to 1991) they were still a good live band. Rick Vito's stunning jazzy & bluesy guitar playing was a pleasant surprise, especially as the band slipped into their rarely played deep blues past on the Buckingham-less tours.
What Lindsey Buckingham brings to the table is an incredible energy and guitar playing that can hold a massive crowd silent with only one instrument or blow the roof off the place with rip-roaring playing.
What the upcoming tour will HOPEFULLY mean is that at least one Bob Welch era song ("Hypnotized") and a couple Peter Green era songs ("Oh Well" and "Green Manalishi") will see the light of day. Sadly, after awhile the Buckingham-led Fleetwood Mac stopped reaching back into their creative artistic blues past and began overlooking some truly great music that the early fans really enjoyed.
Too many good musicians on stage for this new Fleetwood Mac tour to be a disappointment, I think. Unfortunately, however, if someone has never seen Fleetwood Mac live until now, they just won't know what they are missing at the same time.
newloneranger; I feel the same as you in that Lindsey Buckingham is my favourite writer in the band and certainly he really drives that band in a live setting. I do also like Christine Mc Vie's and Stevie Nicks' songs as well, especially some of their lesser known album tracks ("Brown Eyes" and "Storms").

No, Bob Welch isn't coming back; I'm just hoping that the new Fleetwood Mac line-up (with Mike Campbell & Neil Finn replacing Lindsey Buckingham) might play some pre-Buckingham-Nicks era songs like Bob Welch's "Hypnotized" which came out on Fleetwood Mac's 1973 MYSTERY TO ME album. It became a concert centerpiece for Fleetwood Mac and was kept in the set list for a short time (1975 & 1976 concerts) even after Buckingham and Nicks joined and Bob Welch had left.
Unfortunately, Bob Welch took his own life back in 2012.
His 1977 FRENCH KISS album (included the hit "Ebony Eyes") was a good one and it did really well.
