DougS,
I attended a Louder Than Concorde concert in Philadelphia in early July 1976, and as I recall, it wasn't long afterward that Elton had that 7-day engagement in NYC.

rocketman:
I was 16 when you were at that Louder Than Concorde concert in Philadelphia in 1976. EJ never came to Canada on that 1976 tour and I was nowhere near able to attend.
How does that concert rank compared the other EJ shows that you have seen?
Those concerts featured crazy long versions of "Empty Sky" and "Hercules" and others; I might not have appreciated it then but I would LOVE to see a concert like that now. I'd rather see a musician extend their songs rather than play them the same way over & over again. I listen to lots of those 1975 and 1976 concerts on YouTube. Roger Pope could really drum incredibly on the rocking songs...
Your memories?

FAREWELL YELLOW BRICK ROAD - January 19 to April 28, 2022:
The most recent leg of the FAREWELL tour has come to a close before opening up again in Oslo, Norway (May 21) running through several European countries then winding up in Watford, UK for 2 nights (July 3-4) followed by another short break and more legs.
The stretch of concerts from January to April this year got consistently very good reviews. As mentioned before, a few songs were dropped ("All The Girls Love Alice" and "Daniel" and "Indian Sunset" and "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word"). Two songs were added ("Have Mercy on the Criminal" and a mostly pre-recorded encore of "Cold Heart"). One song was substantially shortened ("Levon"). What I have seen from the perspective of YouTube (music plus fan reaction) is that "Have Mercy on the Criminal" is hitting on all cylinders. The band is nailing this one nightly. "Rocket Man" which always has extended instrumental outros was getting a bit predictable the last couple of years but this past leg of the tour has seen the song infused with new parts, especially from Davey and Elton - sounds fresh again.
The setlist really hasn't changed much since the tour initially began, in terms of new songs being added. Going back to Europe later this spring should bring songs into the setlist that were particularly popular (more so than the US and Canada) there over the years. Songs like "Are You Ready For Love" and "Song For Guy" and "Sacrifice" and "Nikita" were really popular in these upcoming markets yet I would only expect to see a maximum of one of these songs ("Are You Ready For Love"). There are lots of hits that could be played everywhere on future gigs that have yet to see the light of day - for years, unfortunately. The setlist right now has no 90s songs and only "Cold Heart" from this entire millennium. The setlist is essentially 1970-84. Mostly 1970-75. The 90s had a number of successful and good albums that are being ignored.
I have already seen 2 of these FAREWELL concerts. They were musically very good and visually impressive. But, I am unlikely to return to another show unless Elton and the band serve up a bunch of new songs in the setlist. A couple of songs, I feel, are ready to be dropped ("Take Me To The Pilot" is one of them). "Hercules" might be a nice song with which to replace that song - both being fairly early 70s upbeat album tracks.
Regardless, EJ and the band are playing extremely well, most songs sound fresh and vital, and you do get bang for the buck!
Next stop: Oslo, Norway...

Hey guys firet post here
Going to see Elton for the first time in Cork on the 1st July and looking forward to it.
Had plans to attend one of the Dublin 2020 dates which were postponed to December 2021 due to Covid and got a ticket to 'Night 1'in July 2020 the day the postponement was announced. Cue September 2021 and the announcement of Eltons injury and the postponement once again. Tbh the covid response here in Ireland was farcical around Autumn/early winter 2021 and I'm not sure would the shows have actually been allowed go ahead (maximum 60% all seated attendance permitted and no shows allowed after 8pm). Anyway got the Dublin ticket refunded and got a ticket for Cork 2022 which was such a lifeline to have
If Cork is good then maybe just maybe I might attend one of the Dublin shows next March if a cheap ticket becomes available

Great news about your tickets! Hopefully everything will go according to plan and things will happen for you - July 1st!
If you want to know the entire concert setlist that is likely to be played then we can post it here for you. However, if you are like me and you don't want to know the setlist ahead of time then we'll keep quiet!!
Have a great time at the concert. If you are a long time fan or know Elton's early albums (1970-75/76) then you will be glad to know that three of his band members from those days are still with him.

Be interesting how the tour will end ?
Don't think it will finish in Sweden as scheduled atm. Think one last big show somewhere like Wembley Stadium to end it
Not sure if the Dodger Stadium show later in the year will be the 'last US show' either

healy52003:
Yeah, I've been looking for awhile at the "final" FAREWELL YELLOW BRICK ROAD concert in Stockholm, Sweden on July 8, 2023 and it just doesn't seem a likely final concert destination. A concert in London, New York, or LA seems more symbolic as the final curtain as it relates to Elton's career. The Troubadour in LA? Madison Square Garden in NY? Watford or London?
Time will tell.
