Don't shy away from coming in
Closer still my darling friend
Don't slip, don't trip on life
I'll be the moon inside your eyes
Don't be afraid of all my years
What you see or what you hear
It's all yours and yours alone
Yours for the taking, so take it home
chorus:
Oh it's a good heart to be a part of
Just a soulful warm and tender love
The kind of love you never knew
Oh it's a good heart from me to you
Oh sure it's cracked a time or two
But him and me, we pulled on through
I've seen 'em come, I seen 'em go
Some went through fast, some went real slow
So take a chance and take your time
Read in my face between the lines
A love real good and I love you
My heart and me, that's what we do
(repeat chorus)
(repeat chorus)

Used to be my #1 from WCN, but now it's number two. "The Open Chord" is somewhat a better song.
5 stars.

3 to 3.5 Typical derivative and predictable Elton ballad to me. Still not bad and it's probably one of better songs from WCN.

"A Good Heart" from WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT:
From what is mostly an upbeat album, "A Good Heart" is another ballad from Elton on his 2016 WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT album - currently his most recent studio album. As a single, like most of EJ's singles in the decade, "A Good Heart" really didn't chart. It did show up on the US Adult Contemporary chart at #17 but that is it. EJ played this one from the album quite consistently live on his WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT tour between 2016 and early 2018.
This song and album feature Matt Bissonette on bass and Kim Bullard on keyboards for the first time on an Elton John studio album.
Nice song but well within what one would expect from Elton.
Rating: 4 to 4 1/2 stars

5 stars...To my ears, the best ballad Elton has written since The One. While it's standard Elton fare and doesn't venture into anything new, its charm and also its power are compelling. Perhaps the video, which I feel is the best Elton's issued next to Tinderbox, is what pushed this song into the upper echelon, and maybe I'm influenced slightly by that. In any case, It would still rate an excellent 4.5 to 4.75 even without the video.
