You gotta think about it
You gotta make a wish and count to ten
It's just a sense of wonder
I see a new direction looking down the lens
Jump started this action
Heard a song in my head and wrote it down
It came out of nowhere
Felt a new sensation driving you through town
chorus:
You're an open chord I want to play all day
A new broom sweeping up the scenes I no longer play
Cleaning out the corners, clipping off the horns
That the devil used to make me wear all day
You're an open chord I'm gonna play all day
You're gonna see some changes
Gotta pinch myself just to believe
Everybody's hiding something
But I can tell you've got some magic up your sleeve
Some need protection
When a feeling follows you around
I always need the silence
Of the lightning you bring crackling with new sound
(repeat chorus)
I sat around and waited
For a spark and it brightened up the night
Before I get much older
I want the pleasure of seeing you up in lights
I stand beside you
Hand over my heart and say a prayer
Love's not for quitters
It's the satisfaction knowing that you're there
(repeat chorus)

The best one from WCN. I used to like "A Good Heart" more, but currently this song got the edge.
5+ stars.

"The Open Chord" from WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT:
Clearly one of the best songs, if not the best, from Elton's most recent studio album - WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT. A beautiful melodic song which shows Elton's band at its subtle best. Nice vocal from Elton, as well. It is one of a number of truly strong EJ songs from this millennium that has largely gone unnoticed by the masses. Too bad; a really good song.
Rating: 5 stars

Reuses that plucked string thing from Too Many Tears. I gave it 3 stars thinking it might grow on me one of these years.

Yea, One of my favorites from WCN. I go back and forth with this one and A Good Heart. both 5+ star songs. It does sound similar to Too Many Tears and Where to Now St. Peter, but I like the sound of both of those songs so that doesn't really bother me too much 5+ stars

4.5 STARS, though I'd likely make it 4.25...Outside of its similarity to Too Many Tears (the opening reminds me strongly of that tune from Peachtree Road) a good song with one of my favorite lyrical turns by Bernie on this album (not that this album is one of Bernie's best)
"A new broom sweeping up the scenes I no longer play Cleaning out the corners, clipping off the horns That the devil used to make me wear all day".

2.5 Tries too hard, but nothing special. It's like copy of 'Too Many Tears' that were also nothing special, but still better.
