Music: Elton John
Lyrics: Bernie Taupin
Drums: Nigel Olsson
Percussion: John Mahon
Bass: Matt Bissonette
Guitar: Davey Johnstone
Keyboard: Kim Bullard
Ice cubes on the back of your neck
Warm wind blowing through the parking lot
A radio humming in every car
Didn't it fee like the clocks had stopped
Calypso moon just cast its spell
We'd grabbed that magic just because
We'd remember and never forget
What a wonderful crazy night that was
chorus:
Some things you don't forget
Some things just take a hold
A wonderful crazy night like that
Takes you back, won't let you go
Someday if you're asking
All about the key to love
I'd say that wonderful night
What a wonderful crazy night it was
Loose clothes and a cool, cool drink
A greasy breeze from the chicken stand
Hearts on fire just one last time
A wishbone snapping in every hand
(repeat chorus)
We found the place to feel it
We knew where we were at
Stars above spelled out our future
Don't everybody need a night like that
Ice cubes on the back of you neck
Warm wind blowing through the parking lot
We'd remember and never forget
What a wonderful crazy night that was
(repeat chorus)

One of the winners on the album. It's also one of those songs where Elton has clearly brought something new to the table, and not just recycle old ideas.
5 stars.

"Wonder Crazy Night" from WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT:
The title track from Elton's most recent (2016) studio album. It was the first time since 2006 that Elton's band members were used on a new Elton album. It was also Matt Bissonette's (bass) and Kim Bullard's (keyboards) debut on an Elton studio album. Driven by Elton's keyboards (including a brief solo) the song is a bit of an upbeat joyous song. It set the tone for the rest of the album which Elton wanted to be more of a celebration of life. It was released to radio as a single but did not chart. It did receive some early live concert play as well.
Rating: 3 1/2 to 4 stars

4 stars...Another example of getting an Elton John album off to a fast start. Somewhat similar to This Town, though the opposite in terms of subject matter and outlook. Both songs have a 'muscular' feel musically, this one perhaps even more so. Overall, I would go 4.25 stars on this song, and I like its use in starting out the album on a fast, 'up' note, with Matt and Nigel showing their abilities quite prominently.
