"Daniel" from HERE AND THERE - Extended Album:
A more upbeat version than normally played live, this version of "Daniel" is one of the better ones in concert. This 1974 live version saw the light of day when released on an expanded version of HERE AND THERE in 1995/1996. Ray Cooper adds nicely to this version.
Of interest, this concert (November 1974) was one of the last times America saw Nigel Olsson & Dee Murray live in concert in EJ's band until they were brought back just before the 1980 famous Central Park gig in support of the 21 AT 33 tour.
Rating: 4 1/2 to 5 stars

One song I wish he'd stop playing, I usually hit the restrooms when he plays it. Its not a bad song, just overplayed live. 4 stars

4.5 stars...close to a 5 rating, I'd probably go with a 4.75 because this song is a very good rendition, with a slightly quicker pace that benefits the song. This is by far my favorite live version of a song that often sounds kind of mediocre when performed live.

Elton sometimes overdramatizes songs on his live shows, and "Daniel" is where he has used to do it the most. I don't like it, and that's why I like this live version best too.
