This is one example of remixes going totally wrong.
3 stars.

One of the skippable songs on the Duets album. If the song isn't broken, why try to fix it. Better than Big Dipper tho so it gets a half a star better.

"Don't Go Breaking My Heart - Remix" from DUETS:
Elton has had lots of excellent remixes and alternate versions of his songs over the years. This isn't my favourite. It has a campy video and sense of fun. It also reached #3 on the US Dance chart, #7 on the UK chart and #15 in Ireland. It didn't chart in Canada and hit only #92 on the US charts. It has a pretty predictable dance beat for the majority of the song which seemed to garner lots of dance club play. Not too adventurous. It is, in its original form, a song that has transcended generations. I much prefer the recent REVAMP version which brings something musically and vocally fresh to the song. This version with RuPaul is probably decent but one that I have little interest in listening to.

This is not a remix of the 1976 record. There were several dance remixes of the RuPaul duet. A remix takes an existing recording and plays with it, often to play at dance clubs. I wish Elton's extended remixes were talked about in fandom, because I love a few of them. -------------------- If we are talking about one of the dance remixes of the Duets duet with RuPaul, I think they took an unlistenable record (the RuPaul duet) and made it interesting. I gave that 3 stars. There were more than one, but they were all similar. ------------------- If we're talking about the version on Duets, that isn't a remix but a re-recording. That is even less listenable for me than the 1976 hit. I think.

Yes, I meant the re-recording. I don't know why have I understood it wrong, but I guess it goes back to the very early days of my fandom when I first listened to this album, and then thought that it's a remix. I didn't have much knowledge back then.
