FAREWELL YELLOW BRICK ROAD concert reviews for North America: September to November, 2019:
Elton and the band are returning to the USA and Canada for concerts there between September 4 and November 16. They start in western USA and then head across Canada for 11 concerts before sliding up and down the eastern coast of USA to finish up. Then comes a monster tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Davey Johnstone, at this point, is expected to return to the tour after undergoing shoulder/back rehab. John Jorgenson stepped in superbly for Davey during the European leg of the FAREWELL tour. It would be a joy to see the BOTH of them playing together again; not likely to happen as John has so many other projects on the go.
Feel free to add reviews, photos, videos, and discussion of the upcoming autumn shows in North America.

Elton and the band start their next leg of the FAREWELL YELLOW BRICK ROAD tour. This time it is back to the US and Canada starting tomorrow (September 4, 2019) in Salt Lake City. They play a scheduled 34 concerts before heading down under for a huge winter tour in Australia and New Zealand. Davey Johnstone is slated to return on guitar after having John Jorgenson stand in superbly for him as he underwent procedures for his shoulder/back.
Looking forward to reading concert reviews here including any from members of this board who get to one or more of the upcoming shows.

Elton John - Live in Toronto - Scotiabank Arena - October 24, 2019:
This was my 2nd Elton concert on his FAREWELL YELLOW BRICK ROAD tour. I attended a previous Toronto performance on September 25, 2018. This October 2019 concert was delivered with energy and power and was, in most ways, similar to the one in September 2018. There were a few differences, however. The setlist was essentially the same. The only difference was that one song was ADDED to the original 2018 setlist. The song added was "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word" which Elton proudly stated that he recorded in Toronto much to the delight of the crowd. The song was from 1976's BLUE MOVES album.
Some of the songs seemed to be delivered with more energy and (good) tension this 2nd time around. "Rocket Man" built a bit more dramatically this time through its instrumental jam. Hard to imagine but "Levon" rocked through its extended instrumental portion with a more rocking delivery than it did in 2018. Maybe Davey's early 2019 shoulder & back procedure has made him more agile and pain-reduced; he rocked out nicely on "Levon" as did the entire band including EJ with some "Saturday Night's Alright" piano included. "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" was delivered with an impressive energy that built climactically. "Indian Sunset" has also seen Elton & Ray add new parts to this show-stopper. It, too, was delivered magnificently. "Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding" remains a musical and visual highlight - stunning! Elton's voice was powerful throughout.
Elton continued to talk to the audience quite a bit. He didn't spend time explaining the new video or story behind "Daniel" this time. He did spend more time thanking Toronto; this was his 26th Toronto concert (51 in Ontario). Of those 26 Toronto shows, I was able to get to 17 and it was so nice to see him leave on such an impressive high note. Elton talked of his family and the loss the previous night of someone very important (David's mother?) to the boys and the family. He was clearly genuine as he spoke throughout the night and at one point fought back tears.
Of interest, a special "Pop-up" store of Elton merchandise appeared on Queen Street a few days before the Toronto concerts offering vinyl, shirts, art, DVDs, clothes, including some specific to Toronto only. Elton appeared at its opening to sign new copies of his book ME plus everything else the line of people wanted signed. The store was open for a week.
Certainly it would have been nice to see the setlist change a little ("Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds", "Empty Garden", "Hercules", "Simple Life", "The One", or "Nikita"). A couple of songs I have seen just a few too many times ("Take Me To The Pilot" and "Burn Down The Mission"). But, it is hard to complain about a masterful 2 hour and 50 minute show delivered with such energy and passion...and the man is 72 years old!! Thank you Elton and band (Nigel, Davey, Ray, John, Kim, and Matt) and Bernie!

Elton John - Live in Atlanta - State Farm Arena - November 1, 2019: Here is a review kindly provided by the Atlanta Journal Constitution of Elton's concert on November 1 - part of his final 2-night stand in the city. Atlanta remains one of Elton's homes. www.ajc.com/blog/music/concert-review-still-potent-elton-john-says-this-atlanta-really/t0pmtXsy2LjZL47VsEgUUK/A few more shows in the US remain this November and then a bunch next spring but most of EJ's shows are now either "down under" (40 concerts there!) or in Europe next summer and autumn. It looks like London, England will be his last concerts. At this time he has 9 shows planned for the O2 Arena in London to finish things off on December 17, 2020. Doug

One song change to setlist: November 2019:
Elton dropped (at least for now) "Believe" and replaced it with "I Want Love" between the two Atlanta concerts in early November of this leg of the tour in 2019. "Believe" has much more power than does "I Want Love" but both have a message that Elton wishes to share.
