A great live version, but the one with George Michael is my favorite.
5 stars.

A good version. I'll give it 4.5 stars. I, personally, don't care for that George Michael version at all! My two favorite versions are the album version and the one from 'Live in Australia'. Phenomenal.

"Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" from the Remastered version of HERE AND THERE:
Elton originally released HERE AND THERE in 1976 as a single vinyl album which did not contain "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me." It surfaced with the expanded remastered double CD released in 1995/96. The good thing about this live 1974 version is that it has that original classic years band (Nigel, Dee, Davey, plus Ray) on the recording. Nigel has always been the best at drumming this particular song. Horns are also on the song courtesy of the Muscle Shoals Horns which add a fuller sound for the song than is normally heard live from Elton & band. The horns allow the song to sound more like the recorded version found on CARIBOU. That concert that night in New York City must have been truly glorious; John Lennon's last concert appearance.
The only drawback to this live 1974 version is that live concert recordings had yet to reach a higher sonic standard which came later.
Rating: 5 stars
