Elton & Bernie's legendary "Rocket Man" has been featured on YouTube by Rick Beato where he examines the song instrument by instrument. What a fantastic job isolating Elton's piano and vocals, Dee's bass, Nigel's drums, Davey's acoustic and slide guitar, David Hentschel's ARP synth parts as well as Dee, Nigel, and Davey's stunning backing vocals. Rick Beato kindly uploaded this to YouTube. He is well worth subscribing to: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWp417CF7fYIt is a real treat to hear each instrument and understand what is going on in EJ's songs. Thanks Rick! Update: this video has been added to Elton's Twitter account by Rick Beato. Doug

DougS,
I subscribed, thanks! This is a must-see for any fan of Elton and of music. Rick's breakdown of the song is amazing, and helps the listener appreciate what goes into the creation of a song - in this case, a great song with great musicians, arrangement, and production.

Agreed, doesn't Rick Beato do a great job examining "Rocket Man" and other songs? There are also lots of talented musicians who have also done bass covers and drum covers of some of EJ's songs and are all on YouTube - well worth checking out. I posted a few on this site over the years.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Doug, I watched his Top 20 Keyboard Intros, and Don't Let The Sun...was number 14, right just ahead of Angry Young Man by Billy Joel (which I would have ranked much higher).
Tiny Dancer was also strongly considered instead, but he decided on Don't Let The Sun...
Come to think of it, some interesting threads could be started here on such things for Elton's songs - his best piano intros, guitar intros, vocal intros, etc.

Great idea; creating threads about best Elton piano intros, etc. We have had a couple over the years, I think.
