Catch a star if you can
Wish for something special
Let it be me, my love is free
Sing a song to yourself
Think of someone listening
One melody, you're all for me
I'll write a symphony just for you and me
If you let me love you, I'll paint a masterpiece
Just for you to see
If you let me love you, let me love you
Are you ready, are you ready for love
Yes I am
Are you, are you ready, are you ready for love
Yes I am
Are you, are you ready, are you ready for love
You're the one like the sun
Shine your love around me
You'll always be the one for me
Say the word and I'll be there
Loving you forever
Don't let me go
Just say it's so
We'll hear the music ring from the mountain tops
To the valley below us
We'll serenade the world
With a lullaby so the angels will know us
Angels will know us

"Are You Ready For Love?"
This Thom Bell, Leroy Bell, and Casey James penned song had multiple Elton versions (among others). Back in 1979 "Are You Ready For Love?" appeared on the THOM BELL SESSIONS EP and was released as a single in Europe. It didn't have a lot of success; #17 in Ireland, #42 in the UK and that's about it. The COMPLETE THOM BELL SESSIONS released in 1989 had another mix for the song. When next re-released in 2003 in became a #1 hit all over Europe; #1 in the UK, Scotland, Ireland (Dance), #4 in the Ireland singles chart and #4 in Belgium. It also hit #1 in the US Dance Club chart.
With the success of the 2003 re-released single Elton played the song live in concert every year from 2003 to 2014 (except 2013). The song made it into his North American setlists for a couple of years and then was reserved for primarily Europe as the years progressed into this millennium.
"Are You Ready For Love?" captured that Philly-soul sound and feel that Elton loved. Elton said of Thom Bell's work "I just loved the way his records sounded." Thom Bell, incidentally, encouraged Elton to sing in a lower register at the time of the recording sessions in 1977. Elton, at first, wasn't enthused but came to appreciate the legendary songwriter/producer's advice. Thom Bell told Elton "You sing too high and you don't use your lower register properly."
Amazing how timing can be so important for the success of a song. There are lots of cases where songs did much better in terms or sales/reception when re-released and "Are You Ready For Love?" is a classic example - becoming a hit 24 years after its initial Elton release.
Rating: 5 stars

4.5 stars...I'm not exactly sure which version of the song we're discussing. I'm not sure what "Elton Solo" is referring to. In any case, the re-released version that became a hit is the one I'm most familiar with, and that's the one I'm rating at 4.5. My only nitpick about this song is the fact that it doesn't end in with a question, despite seemingly being a question. But if that's the lone fault of any song (I didn't down-rate it from a 5 for that reason; I just view it as not quite being a 5 star song) then that's saying a lot.

The correct version is the full length song without The Spinners.
