Longest of the three instrumentals, and includes percussion. I think it's interesting, though not very impressive.
4 stars.

"Dream #3" from THE DIVING BOARD:
Elton went back into the studio in January of 2012 to record an album focussed on his early trio-sound of piano, bass, and drum. The result through fits and starts and delays and reworkings was THE DIVING BOARD in 2013 produced by T-Bone Burnett. The album included three instrumental "Dream" songs which acted as musical interludes between longer pieces of work. The shortest "Dream" song was 40 seconds long and "Dream #3" came in at the lengthiest at 1:36. "Dream #3" is certainly the most interesting of these three instrumental songs. The idea of including musical interludes is a welcomed one; something EJ should feel comfortable in doing again. The last time EJ had multiple instrumentals on a proper Elton John studio album was THE FOX in 1981 and BLUE MOVES in 1976. Some of the instrumentals on these two albums were lengthy major pieces of work, regardless, it is refreshing to have these shorter interludes and helps set the stage in transitioning between one song and another. "Dream #3" features strong piano work with a touch of percussion.

5 stars. It has a very early 70s tense, abrasive edge. I keep waiting in vain for him to do material like this.

4 stars...an interesting a fairly flavorful interlude on an album which just happens to be in my CD player as we speak. This little piece, the longest of the three 'Dream' interludes, serves as more than a transition or bridge to the next song, and my only complaint is that I wish it was longer.
