I got a strong-willed someone to love me
Here off a highway hidden away
Don't need to shout it, we're living here quietly
Away from the folks who just sleep all day
I lived a fast life taking some chances
On my high horse everyone rode
All around were too many monkeys
Asleep at the wheel and running the show
chorus:
But I'm free now, free and easy
Feedom's a breeze, freedom's the tide
Rolling over and over
And I want to be where you are tonight
Where you are tonight
All of my street sense stayed in the city
I caved in and wandered into your heart
When least expected out of the heavens
The moonlight descended into the dark
(repeat chorus)
'Cause you blew the dust off a watch with no hands
Set back the clock and gave me your time
I'm living better now I'm free and easy
Free of the past I've left behind
(repeat chorus)
(repeat chorus)
(repeat chorus)

Out of the songs from the WCN sessions, this is my 2nd least favorite after "Guilty Pleasure". I was never very satisfied with this song.
4 stars.

"Free and Easy" - Bonus Track from WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT Deluxe Editions:
Elton's 2016 release of WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT featured Elton's band back on a full Elton studio album for the first time since the 2006 release of THE CAPTAIN AND THE KID. This became an Elton debut on record for both Kim Bullard on keyboards and Matt Bissonette on bass. The tone of the album, at Elton's direction, was to be upbeat and positive. "Free and Easy" falls into this desire with a slightly whimsical melody a little like the 1974 outtake "One Day At A Time." "Free and Easy" didn't make it onto the basic WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT. It appeared as a bonus track on the Deluxe Editions. It is a nice gentle reflective sunny day type of song; "I lived a fast life...but I'm free now, free and easy." The melody matches the lyrical sentiment on this one.
Rating: 3 1/2 to 4 stars

Nice bonus track, thought it wasn't my type of music at first, but ended up liking it.

4.5 stars...one of the very pleasant surprises in Elton's recent catalog, this bonus track fully lives up to the album's standard (though some fans don't think much of the album, from what I've seen in social media posts) and could easily have been included in the main of ten. The lyrics tell a short but interesting story of finding solace in love while leaving the rat race of career obligations and annoyances behind.
The song almost has a slight Beatles-like sound to it, especially so during the musical interlude. Nigel's drum work is particularly interesting during that segment of the song.

This is how WCN should look like: ----intro of "Claw Hammer" without crappy chorus part. 1. "Wonderful Crazy Night" 2. "Blue Wonderful" 3. "England and America" 4. "A Good Heart" 5. "Guilty Pleasure" 6. "Free and Easy" And he should release only this EP after admitting that his new songs are mostly crap, so he can't make full album.
