It's ok, I'm not a fan of the song and therefore not this live version.

"Amoreena" from 17-11-70:
Elton originally released 17-11-70 (or 11-17-70, depending on where you live!) as a 7-song live album - without "Amoreena." But, in 2017 on RECORD STORE DAY, the album was re-released as a double-vinyl LP with almost twice the amount of songs as the original, this time including "Amoreena." The songs on these respective albums came from a New York radio broadcast on November 17, 1970 on WABC-FM at the A&R Recording Studios. "Amoreena" did make a guest appearance on the 17-11-70 CD re-issue in 1996 as a bonus track.
"Amoreena" was originally from TUMBLEWEED CONNECTION where Nigel & Dee played drums & bass on record - the only song on that album on which they played. It was Nigel & Dee who accompanied EJ on the 17-11-70 performance. Incidentally, EJ, Nigel & Dee had been playing the song live for months before recording it for TUMBLEWEED CONNECTION. Apparently, producer Gus Dudgeon didn't want to use Nigel & Dee on the TUMBLEWEED CONNECTION version. In concert, Elton tended to extend the length of most of the songs in his setlist during those days as was the case for most songs in New York that night, however, "Amoreena" clocked in at about the same length as the original TUMBLEWEED CONNECTION version around 5 minutes in length. The song captures the original country-inspired rock flavours. The song has apparently not been played live by Elton since 1971.
Of interest is that Ray Williams who played an important role in putting Elton & Bernie together back in the early days at Dick James Music named his daughter Amoreena! In an interview with John Beaudin (Rock History Music on YouTube) and elsewhere Ray explained that Elton & Bernie convinced him to name his daughter after the song which was currently in the works. Ray said yes and...Elton & Bernie became her god-parents. Also of interest is that "Amoreena" was used in the cult favourite movie "Dog Day Afternoon" with Al Pacino in 1975 and also Elton's "Rocketman" film.
